Fall is in the air! It is making me remember some of my beautiful family photo shoots from last years fall season. So I decided I am going to do a feature Friday; featuring some of my favorite sessions. First up….. this family session! Families come in all shapes and sizes. I did this picture perfect family of two last October. It was a beautiful day and we traveled to two locations close to one another. There are two things that made this session so great! First one: Heather had her hair and make up done. This does make a big difference! If you are going to pay to have a family session, I would also make the investment of getting your hair and make up done, so you look and feel your best. It makes a difference in the images, and these images will be with you forever. The second element that made it go so great was the outfit selection. Outfit choices are key in producing great family photos. Not sure how to plan the perfect outfits? No worries, I’ve got your covered. When you book your session with me, you receive a family prep guide filled with great information and a section on how to plan great outfits that photograph well.
Rylee contacted me through my website. She is from Arizona and visits Shelter Cove in the summers. She originally wanted a beach session in Shelter Cove, but decided to add on a redwood location to her session. I am so glad she did! They are the cutest little family and it was fun doing both locations. : )
I was on the South Fork High School football field taking some action shots when Andrew's dad approached me about taking Andrew's senior portraits the following year. I was super excited, because I love senior sports photos. They are my favorite! Flash ahead a year later where we made that happen. We started out on the Ferndale Racetrack located at the Ferndale Fairgrounds, because Andrew has spent a lot of time there watching horse racing as he was growing up. Then we ventured over to the Ferndale Wildcats Football Stadium. His Dad had carefully painted 2018 on the field and we spent some time visiting and getting some different shots. When I think of the small historic town of Ferndale, two things come to mind. Football and family. Andrew' s little brother joined us on the shoot, so I of course had to get a couple of the two brothers going head to head on the field. It reminded me of something out of a Friday Night Lights episode. Than you Andrew and family for letting me capture these milestone moments.
Dave and Aimee were supposed to get married atop a cliff overlooking the ocean, but the day before their wedding day they had to unexpectedly switch venues. Aimee messaged me the following message, “Our “wedding” is just a day...our “marriage” is what we care about. I could cry, I could flip out, I could panic, or I could laugh. I chose to laugh. C’est la vie.”
This is EXACTLY the attitude you must possess to make it in a marriage. Life is going to throw you some curve balls and the only way you are going to make it through is TOGETHER, hand in hand, with a positive attitude that no matter what comes your way, you will conquer it together. That is precisely what this couple did. With the help of friends and family, they threw together a backyard wedding overnight. It was perfect. From being able to get ready in the comfort of your own home to having your two sons walk you down the aisle in your front yard, to toasting to the future on your very own front porch. Did I also mention on the beginning of their honeymoon they had to endure a tropical storm? I have no doubt this couple will weather any storm together.
