  • Keep it natural

You want to look like YOU! This is not the time to go buy hundreds of dollars in new makeup to try for the day. You never know how your skin will react to something new. In general, stick to matte colors that aren’t too dark or sparkly.

  • Wear blush and lipstick

This is especially important if you aren’t used to wearing a lot of makeup, because It’s very easy to look washed out on camera. Add some peachy blush to the apple of your cheeks, light pink or nude lipstick, and an extra coat of mascara! This will make your eyes pop!

Pro Tip: Do a trial run before the portrait day! Do your makeup, try on a couple outfits, go outside and have someone snap a photo with a flash and without the flash. This won’t perfectly replicate what your photographer can do, but then you’ll be able to make sure everything looks how you want it to!

  • Avoid products with SPF

Sunscreen products very easily wash you out, It’s best to just leave those products out for the day. The last thing we want is for you to have a Ghostface!

  • Use primer

  • Eye primer, foundation primer, the whole 9! Especially if you don’t have smooth skin to begin with from acne or scarring, this will make your skin appear more smooth and fresh.

2017Parky'sPicsYearinReview

It is the last day of 2017. Wow. What a year. It flew by soooooo fast. I was going through some 2017 photo shoots today and was feeling overwhelmed with how blessed I have been with such amazing clients this year. Some I have know for a while, some were new. There were more shoots than were shown here, but they are all amazing, and the people in them have made my life so much better. New friendships and relationships were formed, and I look forward to continuing to following you on your life journeys.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to capture these important milestones in your lives. I am forever grateful.

Andrew-Senior Session-Ferndale High School Football Field

I was on the South Fork High School football field taking some action shots when Andrew's dad approached me about taking Andrew's senior portraits the following year.  I was super excited, because I love senior sports photos. They are my favorite! Flash ahead a year later where we made that happen. We started out on the Ferndale Racetrack located at the Ferndale Fairgrounds, because Andrew has spent a lot of time there watching horse racing as he was growing up. Then we ventured over to the Ferndale Wildcats Football Stadium. His Dad had carefully painted 2018 on the field and we spent some time visiting and getting some different shots.  When I think of the small historic town of Ferndale, two things come to mind. Football and family.  Andrew' s little brother joined us on the shoot, so I of course had to get a couple of the two brothers going head to head on the field. It reminded me of something out of a Friday Night Lights episode.  Than you Andrew and family for letting me capture these milestone moments.

Meet Emily. A Ferndale High student who is also one of Parky's Pics 2018 Senior Reps. She plays basketball and also competes in Rodeo. We were blessed with a gorgeous location and great weather for her senior portraits. Emily and her mom traveled to Southern Humboldt where we shot at one of their family friends houses. We started bright and early which is my favorite time to shoot. Emily's outfit choices were perfect for the location. We ended the session in the field with this cowgirl and her horses. It was an amazing morning! I can't wait for our future shoots!
